At the end of the century XII, the Arabs
introduced to Spain the white crockery, ancient common ceramics covered of white clay and varnished with tin. Of the region of Mayorca , Spain,
happened to Italy and from there was extended to all Europe.
Probably between 1550 and 1560 was brought to America by the dominicos of
Talavera of the Queen, who
established the first locerías in the city
of Puebla and to who also it should be the name of Talavera of Puebla.
In the century XVII were multiplied the crockery factories
achieving a unusual summit thanks to the regulation of the trade of locero. This period was characterized by the great creativity in the
Hispanic influence designs - Moorish in a way geometric and lancerías in blue obscure on white fund.
In those times the loceros of Puebla
developed also a style chinese like extremely original, imitation of the exquisite Chinese pieces that were arriving to Mexico through Galleon
of Manila, achieving a very original style by the vigor and the spontaneity with which were interpreted the eastern models.
At the end of the century XVIII and principles of the XIX, the Talavera Poblana suffers a transcendental change upon substituting decorated it in blue by the rich polichromy of Italian influence.
Through the centuries, the Talavera Poblana has been enriched with various influences. Today, the pieces of Talavera recreate the styles and designs of the ancient Talavera, poblana and Spanish , as well as indigenous motives and of art nouveau; allegory in a way and extraordinary colors, fruit of the imagination of the poblano potters.
